Number 2 of the Major Arcana: The High Priestess
“The High Priestess is here as a lesson in the nature of religion. Simultaneously wearing both the Cross and the Triple Goddess and holding the Torah, She shows the relation of the three and that they all had the same purpose, as do the pillars. The white with J for Jesus, and the black with B for Beelzebub, these are the light (culturally/personally accepted) and shadow (culturally/personally unaccepted) sides of us all. The Cross between is not the defeat of one over the other, but the bringing together into balance and Divine Paradox between them, as you cannot have one without the other. Furthermore the Moon shows itself in Her robes, as reminder that Heaven is not a place but a state of being, when we’ve brought ourselves into full unity and self-love, and only through loving ourselves, freeing ourselves to love the world around us and everyone in it. This is unconditional and Divine Love.” -Mike
